What Mombasa Kidney Care is

Mombasa Kidney Care is a patient education and care navigation website for people in Mombasa. Many people first meet a kidney question as a line on a lab report: a high creatinine, a low eGFR, protein in the urine. We explain what those results and conditions mean in plain language, and we help people find an appropriate next step and a verified provider.

We are not a clinic or a hospital. We do not diagnose, treat or prescribe, and we do not rate or rank doctors.

Our purpose

To take someone from "my creatinine is high, what does that mean?" to "I understand my next step, and I know where to find appropriate kidney care in Mombasa."

Kidney problems often cause no symptoms early on, and the tests can be confusing. Clear information and a simple route to the right service can help people get checked and followed up at the right time.

How we approach patient education

• Plain language. We explain every medical term the first time we use it, and keep a glossary of the rest.
• Calm and accurate. No fear-based headlines, no invented statistics and no promises about outcomes.
• Guidance-based. Clinical content follows recognised guidance, mainly the KDIGO 2024 guideline on chronic kidney disease, with sources listed on each page.
• Written for Mombasa. We describe how care actually works here: results from a lab or a hospital outpatient clinic, taken to a doctor, then on to a specialist if needed.
• Education, not diagnosis. Every clinical page explains what a doctor usually considers, and when to see one. No page tells you what your result means for you personally.

Each clinical page is written by our editorial team from named sources and then reviewed by a registered clinician before it is marked as reviewed. Each page shows who reviewed it and when. Pages are checked again at least once a year, and sooner if guidance changes. Read our clinical review policy.

Provider verification
